THE INSPIRING LIFE OF AN UNSUNG HERO DURING COVID -19
Raji hails from Punnaloor in Kollam District of Kerala. A social worker and activist, he does everything possible to uphold the rights of persons with disabilities. The only breadwinner of the family, he cares for his wife and two children by working at his tailoring workshop. Raji is wheelchair bound and was the first president of Punnergini – the Kollam DDPO under KCDA.
During the outbreak of Covid-19 in Kerala, Raji decided to contribute his mite to society. Realizing the importance of wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing in the community, Raji decided to spread awareness in his community.
With the help of his family members he mobilized the raw material that was required from the local markets. He stitched around 16,000 masks and distributed them in the Punnaloor Municipality with the help of Asha workers.
Raji is a model for everyone, a poor man with disabilities with a heart for others.
